The Chain
  1. The candle on the third shelf — never lit, purely "ambiance" — is nudged by an overstacked self-help book.
  2. The candle rolls into a ceramic cat, which tips into the succulent that has been dead for six weeks.
  3. The pot slides off, lands on the power strip below, sparking and startling the actual cat, who launches at 47mph.
  4. The airborne cat collides with the standing fan, which topples into the unanchored bookshelf. The subject is now a permanent bookmark.
